The Choice of Grace

Ephesians 1:3-8    Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.  4  For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love  5  he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—  6  to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.  7  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace  8  that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding

I.                 Who made the choice?

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14  But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.  14  He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

a.  He (God)

b.  Or Me?

II.              What did He Choose?

a.  He chose US!

b.  Did we choose Him or did He choose Us…. Or did we choose each other?

III.          How are We chosen?

a.  In Him

b.  Every Christian is a Christian because they are “In HIM”

IV.         When were We Chosen?

a.  before the creation of the world

V.             What were We chosen For?

a.  to be holy and blameless in his sight.

1 Peter 2:9-10  But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.  10  Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Philippians 2:13-15  for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.  14  Do everything without grumbling or arguing,  15  so that you may become blameless and pure, "children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation." Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky
